Enabling the creation of a flight simulator equivalent for healthcare education and training

The UMVHP is planning with the UM Medical School, the UM College of Engineering, several private companies, Stanford University Medical Informatics, Stanford University SUMMIT group and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) to develop advanced interactive online medical education programs, including virtual reality projections of human anatomical/physiological information combined with haptic feedback. This collaboration will use the Visible Human data sets as well as other anatomical and physiological data sources. The objective is ultimately to provide the equivalent of a flight simulator for the medical/surgical professions.
