Leaders in Visualizing Biological Structures for Healthcare Education and Research
The University of Michigan Visible Human Project (UMVHP), under the direction of Brian Athey Ph.D., has become a national leader in the the integration of labeled National Library of Medicine (NLM) Visible Human data sets, with a variety of CT and MRI scans, models and learning programs using advanced informatics and visualization systems. UMVHP is also an leader in the Digital Human Initiative.
MCBI Relationship
UMVHP work is resulting in a transformative integration of state of the art technologies in digital anatomy, medical education, bioinformatics, and computational biology that are scalable and interactive. UMVHP is now housed in the Michigan Center for Biological Information (MCBI) and shares many of its interdisciplinary team members, several of whom have over 20 years of leadership in these specialized fields and are internationally known.
